YES. I am all about this upper-half turn of the century (à la the Crawley sisters) versus bottom-half 1950’s via the 1980’s. I have been trying to do this exactly look, with limited success, since the tenth grade.
BEST. Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen. She normally doesn’t do so well, I mean…I’ll just let this speak for itself. However, this was such a gorgeous dress. The hair could use some work in the front, but honestly, that’s just nitpicking an otherwise flawless look.
Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab and Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton. These were both really pretty. Milla had a better overall “look,” even though Michelle had the objectively more interesting dress.

Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood. I respect a girl who looks at an ocean of pretty pretty princess dresses, and says “I want to be a tower of black sequins.” The length is great too, and it fits her like a dream.
WORST. Oh my god, girl, you are Natalie Fucking Portman, one of the most stunning women of my generation, and you go to the Oscars wearing the junior prom dress of a chubby rockabilly girl? You can see like an inch of lining peaking out from the bottom on one side, and the other side is actually torn up and dragging bits of thread. I don’t care that it’s vintage Dior, she looked terrible.
Shalom Harlow for Banana Republic’s Mad Men Collection
Back into the realm of fashion I can actually (barely) afford, this dress is going to have to be a part of my life in a big way.
